(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Snow patrol is responding to primary and secondary roadways across the City after it snowed overnight on Wednesday, Oct. 30 into Thursday morning, Oct. 31.
Colorado Springs received the first snow of the season on Wednesday night, with the northern part of town receiving 1.5'' and central/southern Colorado Springs experiencing 0.5'' according to the City.
Snow Manager Lance Holmes said that overnight on Wednesday, snow patrol began monitoring conditions and applying materials as needed.
"We have a full hook up and AM crews are prepared to respond if needed," said Holmes. "It is advised if you are out and about this morning that you give extra time to get to your destination and allow extra space from the vehicle in front of you. Drivers will find the main arterials to be in good shape, however, some roadways in certain areas can still be icy."
On Thursday morning, snow patrol was focusing on primary and secondary roads, mostly paying attention to bridges and overpasses, in addition to any roads that could potentially need any work.
A freeze warning persists in the area until 10 a.m. on Thursday. Some icy patches can be expected in the morning, especially along elevated surfaces/shaded areas. However, Halloween day will be full of sunshine with highs in the low 50s.
The city is not expecting any more snow for now, however, PM Snow Patrol crews are prepared to respond if needed.
