NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) - The North Charleston Police Department entered into an early morning pursuit that resulted in two officers crashing and the vehicle escaping. The spokesperson for the North Charleston Police Department, Harve Jacobs, says the department identified a vehicle believed to be involved in a series of armed robberies around 6:30 a.m. on Thursday. Detectives asked a patrol unit for assistance in stopping the vehicle on I-26. However, when the patrol unit tried to stop the vehicle near Remount Road, it refused to yield. Jacobs says patrol units and detectives pursued the vehicle through Goose Creek. The suspect then entered I-26 at College Park Road driving westbound in the eastbound lanes. The department decided to then cancel the pursuit. Officials say during the pursuit, two officers were involved in a collision. Neither were injured. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating.
