BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- The family of an 8-year-old boy who was fatally struck near Roosevelt Elementary School, continues to demand more safety measures. Trustees with the Bakersfield City School District held a meeting last week and again on Wednesday evening to discuss student and pedestrian safety. On Oct. 30, trustees agreed to put a crossing guard at A and Bank Streets. They also plan to hold safety assemblies for students and parents. "How many more children have to die before you guys can put cross guards? It's less than a mile away. Anywhere where this a stop sign or school sign there needs to be crossing guards, there needs to be speed bumps, flashing lights anything to protect our children," Alfredo Marron and Vanessa Flores, Aguilar family members said.
