High pressure moving away from the Atlantic Coast will provide one more day of gusty southwesterly winds and unseasonably warm weather. Wind gusts will reach 30 to 40 mph at times through early evening, as low pressure tracks across the Upper Midwest to the Great Lakes. A trailing cold front will arrive late this evening, preceded by several bands of showers that will affect trick-or-treating, along with a chance for a rumble of thunder. Readings will reach the mid-70s, before falling back into the mid-60s after sunset. Winds will partially subside after the more widespread rain arrives this evening. Cooler weather will follow in the wake of the cold front, as high pressure settles in at the start of the weekend. Temperatures Friday and Saturday will fall back into the low 60s during the afternoon, with cool mornings in the upper 30s and low 40s. A disturbance will bring showers on Sunday with a warm front lifting northward. Clouds will linger on Monday, with a warmup to the low 70s and a few lingering showers. Election Day will be breezy and warmer, with mostly cloudy skies. A frontal system will move through the Midwest and bring showers Tuesday night and Wednesday, resulting in cooler weather midweek. Forecast Thursday: Clouds thicken, windy, showers, rumble. High 77 Tonight: Showers taper after midnight. Low 47 Friday: Mostly sunny, cooler. High 59 Saturday: Sunny. High 62 (37) Sunday: Clouds return, showers p.m. High 65 (42) Monday: Mainly cloudy, scattered showers. High 75 (56) Election Day: Mostly cloudy, warm, showers late. High 77 (62) Wednesday: Clearing, cooler. High 66 (52)
