Jennifer Garner channels ’13 Going on 30′ character for Halloween

Jennifer Garner is flirty and thriving as she throws it back to her beloved “13 Going on 30” character this Halloween.
The 52-year-old actress sported Jenna Rink’s colorful striped dress and butterfly necklace in an Instagram Reel Wednesday, recreating the 2004 rom-com’s makeover montage, once again to the tune of Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance with Somebody.”
“Happy 20th Halloween, Jenna Rink,” Garner captioned the charming clip, in which she added retinol face cream, a crossbody bag, crew socks, pink sneakers and tummy-hugging undergarments to Jenna’s ensemble.

Fittingly, the party Jenna’s preparing for features what’s probably the film’s most memorable sequence, in which Jenna, her coworkers, and childhood best friend-turned-love interest (Mark Ruffalo) perform the “Thriller” dance to spice up a dud party. Perfect timing for the end of this spooky season.
“13 Going on 30” centers on Jenna who, during her failed 13th birthday, makes a wish via fairy dust to be “30, flirty and thriving” and promptly wakes up 17 years in the future. Though older Jenna’s life is glitzy and perfect on the surface, she quickly realizes that she may have sacrificed her best days and connections in the process of getting there.
Judy Greer, who played Jenna’s rival-turned-partner in crime, Lucy (also known as Tom-Tom), told the Daily News in 2021 that though a sequel sounds like a “beautiful and happy” idea, “it would be really hard” to embark on the project following the 2011 death of director Gary Winick.
Though sequels and reboots have been discussed, co-writers Josh Goldsmith and Cathy Yuspa told The Hollywood Reporter earlier this year that “nothing has quite clicked yet.” While they haven’t ruled it out, a musical adaptation, which has been workshopped in London, is the current priority and could hit stages as early as next year.
