New nonstop Tijuana to Las Vegas route takes off, with three flights a week
Oct 31, 2024
Mexican airline Volaris launched nonstop flights between Tijuana and Las Vegas on Tuesday.
The new service will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays with a 186-seat Airbus A320neo aircraft.
The flight departs from Tijuana International Airport at 3:50 p.m. and arrives at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas about one hour later. The Las Vegas to Tijuana flight departs at 6:30 p.m. Currently, a one-way ticket starts at around $39, according to Volaris website.
This is the second nonstop route to the U.S. from the Tijuana airport. The first flight was to Phoenix, which also opened this year.
“For Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (the airport’s operator), the international connectivity of our airports is the result of listening to our passengers and the need to promote tourism, trade and business in the region,” Carlos Salgado de la Peña, director of the Tijuana International Airport, said in a statement.
“In addition, the strategic geographic location of the Tijuana airport, on the border with the U.S., allows us to explore interesting connectivity options, such as this route to Las Vegas,” he added.
From January to September, the Tijuana airport recorded 9.3 million passengers, of which 32% were international, authorities said.
Baja California Secretary of Tourism Miguel Aguíñiga said that the new service “strengthens the connection between Baja California and one of the world’s most visited destinations.”
Nevada is the third-largest source of U.S. tourists to Baja California, after California and Arizona, he said.
“This flight facilitates the transit of visitors and contributes to the economy and tourism in our region, expanding experiences for our residents and those who choose Baja California as an entry point to Mexico.”
