Eyes on future
Oct 31, 2024
An important day is coming soon and to say I’m worried is an understatement. Been here a long time after building a bed in my old Dodge van and heading west with my dog Zarack. I will never move from Utah because of the people and the country. Riding or hiking the Uintas is my escape, my haven and thoughts along the way are only of the beauty and the silence and, of course, the hope that I won’t get bucked off. The people here are probably like the people everywhere, but special in their own way. I am not a member of the predominate faith, but I can appreciate those that are. I cannot imagine a more respectful, more hard-working, more helpful, dedicated group of neighbors than those that surround our community. My friend and his wife at the station who still works have accumulated more volunteer hours than I can count, but he still is there for you if needed. My horse shoer works two to three jobs and could literally work you into the ground maybe for the money but mostly because that’s who he is. These are the folks that make Utah what it is and we may not agree on everything, but we sure can appreciate each other’s strengths and opinions. Even though we may be different, we share a bond of respect. If we tell you we will be there for whatever reason, we will be there. If we owe you in any way, we will pay. We won’t make excuses or deceive you. We won’t sue you if we disagree. We won’t disparage you if your beliefs are different from ours. We won’t attack you if you have supported a different path. We won’t call you names, attack your personal beliefs, undermine your efforts. We will accept you no matter where you came from, what you believe, what color your skin is, what faith you practice. Don’t try to buy us with money or speech. We will vote for a future that defines who we are, a future of faith in each other, a future for all, a future that protects our planet, a future where hope reins and are hearts are fulfilled.
