Ballots are now in the hands of voters and the election is less than a week away. Many people know who they are voting for, but some are still deciding. For those of you who are still contemplating who to vote for in the Summit County Council Seat C race, I encourage you to vote for Megan McKenna. Because Megan grew up in Summit County, she has a unique perspective on the changes that have taken place over the past decades. Megan understands what it is like to work hard in multiple jobs to make ends meet in this place. She has worked local jobs, taught local children, and helped local families and workforce find housing. Megan understands the challenges and opportunities of living in a ski community because she has for most of her life.In a ski community, like all communities, you need diverse perspectives and experience, and you need council members who are collaborative, thoughtful, and patient. Megan possesses all these qualities, and she is constantly working to further enhance these skills. Additionally, Megan has many technical skills and capabilities from her master’s degree in environmental science, teaching experience, and housing advocacy experience. Megan is a person who listens to all feedback and is willing to change her mind if new, compelling evidence is presented. We need more leaders like Megan, people who are relatable, who value both their community as a whole and the individuals within it. We need leaders who are willing to make hard decisions based on fact and feedback. If you are still contemplating who should get your vote for Summit County Council Seat C, please vote for Megan McKenna.
