COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – A man is dead after a shooting occurred late Wednesday night on the far west side of the city. According to Sergeant Joe Albert of the Columbus Division of Police, the Emergency Communications Center received two calls at around 11:15 p.m. about a possible shooting in the 5600 block of Cabot Cove Drive, off of Hilliard Rome Road, just south of Hilliard. Whitehall mother charged with killing daughter, 9 months The first caller reported gunshots being heard, the second caller said they saw a body lying on the ground. Officers arrived at the Cabot Cove Apartments and found a man outside one of the apartment buildings suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced dead at 11:42 p.m. and detectives at the scene believe he and another person were involved in an altercation prior to the shooting. Police located another man nearby and took him into custody, while the Homicide Unit was called to assist in the ongoing investigation. Police said a gun was recovered, but it is unknown whether or not it was used in the shooting. Anyone with information is asked to call the CPD’s Homicide Unit at 614-645-4730.
