Should you be elected, what are three specific areas you’d like to change, address, improve or further research, and how specifically would you go about it?: 1) I would like to bring back the Good Deeds program for Lake County residents. The Good Deeds program is a FREE deed review program for Lake County residents to learn what kind of ownership they have and whether their property would need to go thru probate upon one’s death. This program would include the Probate Judge and/or Probate Attorneys’ to review what type of deed residents have and what is needed to help avoid probate. As Recorder, I would then explain to residents, how to obtain a copy of their deed and the cost associated with recording a new deed or affidavit. This program could help taxpayers save a lot of time and money down the road.
2) I would like to continue to move forward digitizing the records, ensuring that the information is available at your fingertips while still maintaining security. This process can be done internally by office staff or by an outside company. When elected, I will sit down and review what the best process is for the office at the time.
3) I would like to improve the communication between the county offices. Being on the same page as the other county offices when it comes to closures is important for the public. Coming into the county offices to transfer and record should be able to be accomplished on the same day, but when one office closes earlier than the other, people are having to make multiple trips to accomplish their transfer and recording. This should not be happening in a public office.
Whether for past accomplishments or future goals, why should voters elect you?: With over 15 years of experience in the Title Insurance Industry, I work daily utilizing the county records. My experience puts me in a unique position to to seamlessly transition into the office. Not only do I understand the importance of the records but I understand the need to be able to access the records easily. Voter’s should elect me because of my prior experience and understanding of the records. I am the best choice to move the office forward while maintaining the highest of standards.
