New Orleans Saints preaching accountability during sixgame losing streak
Oct 30, 2024
METAIRIE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Saints are in unchartered territory, losers of six straight for the first time since 2005. It's a feeling the roster is unfamiliar with, defensive end Cam Jordan saying as much on social media.
"Nothing to be said. New territory to be in," Jordan said on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Things aren't going well for the Saints during the six-game losing stretch. New Orleans has been outscored 86-18 over the last 10 quarters and the once formidable defense ranks last in the NFL in total defense.
After Sunday’s latest loss to the Chargers, the Saints said they have to look in the mirror and everyone has to start being accountable to start climbing out of this hole.
"When you see these consecutive losses, it turns back to accountability," Saints linebacker Pete Werner said. "Accountability with players and just personally within yourself. I mean, guys, you got to look at yourself in the mirror and you got to figure it out and you got to get it done. And we're not. It's going to be the players. The players at the end of they're going out there and performing. So, it's going to start with us."

“I mean, obviously, you want your players to be accountable to what we need to do to be able to win," Saints head coach Dennis Allen said. "I mean, I think this is not a player thing. It's not a coach thing. It's an us thing. I think we all together have to do a better job.”
Getting things turned around in time will be an uphill battle for the Saints. Only three teams have made the playoffs after starting 2-6 since 1970.
