Warm Wednesday ahead of Halloween showers
Oct 30, 2024
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Happy Wednesday! We are tracking another windy and warm day for your Wednesday. Temperatures will be peaking right around the upper 70s, near 80. This is not quite record warmth but we will get close. It’s going to be a very mild night, with lows only falling into the low-to-mid 60s by Thursday morning.
Your Halloween will start off dry and warm, but we will be tracking afternoon and evening rain chances. The highest chance of rain will be across central and northern Kentucky, with the rain holding off until the late evening hours for southeastern Kentucky. Trick-or-treaters will be in for scattered showers and a storm or two possible for the Lexington area north and westward. If you’re in Corbin/London and points eastward, you should stay dry for trick-or-treating as the rain will likely hold off until the late evening and overnight hours.
There will be lingering showers early Friday morning across southeastern Kentucky before those showers give way to cooler conditions for your afternoon hours. Rainfall totals will generally stay around half an inch of less, with isolated higher amounts possible.
The timing in Lexington will be interesting as we are currently sitting at the 2nd driest October and the 3rd driest month on record at only 0.22″ of rain rain recorded for the entire month. That will likely change with the rain showers expected in the final hours of the month.
After cooler conditions Friday morning into the morning hours on Saturday, we are going to be warming up once again by the end of the weekend. Afternoon highs on Saturday will range from the low-to-mid 60s, before reaching the low-to-mid 70s by Sunday. We will once again make a run at record warmth early next week.
The warm up is expected to last through Election Day on Tuesday. This warm-up is ahead of another cold front that will swing through the area late Tuesday into Wednesday. This will bring us a rain chance once again. The timing is still a bit up in the air, as most of the data suggests the rain holds off for Election Day itself, before moving in Tuesday night into Wednesday.
