BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) — Police are searching for a suspect after a person was shot outside of a dining hall at the University of Bridgeport (UB) on Tuesday evening. The city says the victim has non-life-threatening injuries and likely knows the suspect. UB President Danielle Wilken noted that the victim and suspect are not UB students. ALSO READ: Firefighter dies in rollover while battling Connecticut brush fire The university went into lockdown overnight, although officials said there was no ongoing threat to the public. The lockdown was lifted around 6:15 Wednesday morning, according to the Bridgeport Emergency Operation Center. "Campus safety is out number one priority," University of Bridgeport President Danielle Wilken said. "We continue to take strong measures to ensure the safety of our community, and we will follow the directives of the Bridgeport Police Department." Police believe the suspect is no longer on campus, but there will be an increased police presence as classes resume. The investigation is ongoing. Close Thanks for signing up!
