Yankees extend the World Series to a Game 5
Oct 30, 2024
Game 4 started with a familiar tone as Dodgers first basemen Freddie Freeman hit yet another two-run homerun in the top of the first inning. Yankees fans were probably thinking to themselves “not again” as Freeman rounded the bases shouting into his dugout. But the Yankees bounced back thanks to a grand slam when Anthony Volpe sent a charge through the Bronx and gave the Yanks a 5-2 lead. The Dodgers would close it to one run after scoring two more making it 5-4, but a barrage of runs in the eighth secured the 11-4, game 4 victory for New York and extending the series to a Game 5.
This game had it all. Grand slams, homeruns and even two fans getting ejected for ripping a foul ball out of Mookie Betts glove. Betts was trying to catch a fly-ball in foul territory along the right field wall and two Yankees fans actually grabbed Mookie Betts arm and forcibly pulled his glove and were able to jar the ball loose. The two guys who did it are the perfect encapsulation of Yankees fans, if you were two tell a police sketch-artist to draw two NY fans, they would draw these guys. There would be much more outrage if this happened anywhere else besides the Bronx, but this is expected of Yankees fans.
Both clubs will have their aces on the mound for game 5 which is set for tonight at 7:08 on FOX. Walker Buehler will go for LA and Gerrit Cole will go for NY.
