Three traffic stops results in over 200 pounds of drugs seized

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Over 200 pounds of drugs were seized in three separate incidents in the San Diego area last week, authorities said.
The first drug bust occurred on Tuesday, Oct. 22 at around 7:15 p.m. near San Clemente during immigration checkpoint operations on Interstate 5, U.S Customs and Border Protection said in a news release Tuesday.
Authorities found 50 plastic-wrapped packages of cocaine, weighing 144 pounds, hidden within four duffle bags in the trunk. Border agents turned the drugs, vehicle, driver and passenger over to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department for prosecution.

The second seizure occurred Wednesday around 1 p.m. on Interstate 15 near Temecula Parkway. Border agents stopped and searched a suspicious sedan, finding 22.5 pounds of fentanyl wrapped in plastic in the vehicle's speaker box, according to authorities. The driver, vehicle and drugs were turned over to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department for further investigation and prosecution.
The third incident occurred Friday around 1:30 p.m. on Interstate 5. Border agents found 30 packages in the duffle bag, weighing a total of 73.8 pounds, that tested positive for cocaine. The driver, passenger, vehicle, and narcotics were turned over to San Diego County Sheriff’s Department for prosecution.
