TOPEKA (KSNT) - People are breaking records for hitting the polls early. The Shawnee County Election Commissioner told 27 News this year the county is seeing nearly doubled the amount of early voters compared to previous presidential elections. With time running out to vote in the upcoming election, people in Shawnee County are making sure their voices are heard. And the numbers prove it. "First day was over 3,000 voters," Howell said. "Seen a lot of days of somewhere between 2,200 and 2,600, 2,700 voters. So, been very busy." But if the larger number of people isn't deterring voters Howell said the process has been running smoothly. "We're still able to do a good job of getting people in, getting people out of here at the election office," Howell said. "Time in line here is about nill. Which I think is still pretty good considering we're seeing larger than normal numbers here."
