New weather record set, another one in sight Wednesday
Oct 29, 2024
Warm, gusty southwesterly winds raised temperatures high enough to break a 78-year-old record Tuesday! The old record high was 78 degrees, set in 1946, and we reached 80°. Tuesday's warmth is followed by another record-setting day Wednesday when temperatures are expected to return to the 80° mark. Wednesday's record high is 79°.
Wednesday's forecasted high of 80° beats the current October 30 Fort Wayne record of 79°.
Winds remain breezy during the early morning, up to 25 mph, and temperatures stay on the warm side for a late October morning - only as low as the low 60s for lows. After sunrise, Wednesday's outlook calls for another windy day with winds increasing in speed, gusting in from the SW up to 35 mph.
A weather system brings rain and thunderstorm chances into the area for Halloween. Winds will be gusty, from the SW up to 35 mph. The highest rain potential exists around midday and the chances will decrease through the afternoon and into the evening. However, there may still be some raindrops falling in some parts of the area by trick-or-treat times.
Scattered rain potential exists from Halloween morning into the evening. The potential will be tapering off during trick-or-treating hours, but some raindrops may still be out there.
With the windy conditions, if you have any outdoor fall or Halloween decorations, securing them or bringing them inside would be a good idea. An elevated fire danger exists, due to limited amounts of rain recently, dry soil, and lots of dry leaves on the ground. Any spark that may occur could result in a rapidly spreading fire. Be cautious and avoid activities that include outdoor fires and outdoor burning Wednesday.

With a cold front moving through Thursday, record warmth will not be experienced on Halloween, but we'll still have above average temps. Thursday evening trick-or-treat temperatures will start in the upper 60s and drop to the low 60s.
Trick-or-Treaters will have temps in the 60s this year and they may be dodging a raindrop or two. Some occasional windy moments will be happening, too.
Behind the cold front coming Thursday, cooler air moves in for Friday and highs will be in the upper 50s.
Over the weekend, we'll return to highs in the 60s, both days, with a chance of rain on Sunday.
Next Tuesday's Election Day Forecast carries a chance of rain with morning temps in the 50s increasing to the upper 60s during the day.
