Deep South Taco announces closure of Hertel Avenue location

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- Deep South Taco is closing its Hertel Avenue location and will be moving to a new location, the business announced Tuesday in a social media post.
After almost nine years of operating at that location, both the property and building was sold, the post said.
"We are very grateful for all the years and fun we have had on Hertel," Deep South Taco said in the post. "We will miss our times there but look forward to seeing you at Ellicott Street."
The announcement comes about two months after a developer bought the land at 1707 Hertel Avenue, where Deep South Taco is located.
Back in August, Buffalo real estate agent Jacob Stiller proposed to build a five-story building made up of businesses and apartments there.
At the time, the project was said to include 52 new apartments and 6,500 square feet of ground-floor commercial space, according to Forward Development LLC.
Earlier this month, the Buffalo Zoning Board approved multiple appeals to allow construction of the project.
Deep South Taco said to "stay tuned" for the announcement of its new location. In the post, the restaurant reminded customers that its 291 Ellicott St. location is still open for business.
