BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — For the second straight week, Southern's defense is eyeing another tough test, especially for their secondary.
On Saturday, the Jaguars will hit the road to face Alabama A&M, who leads the SWAC in total offense. The Bulldogs average 462 yards per game, with most of their production coming through the air.
The Jaguars' passing defense struggled the most against Florida A&M, giving up 278 yards and two touchdowns. That was the first time this season Southern allowed a team to throw for over 200 yards in a game.
The Jaguars are using that as a learning lesson to prepare for the Bulldogs' lethal passing attack.
"Continued to do what we do. The problems was blown coverages, and we got to fix that. I know coach Miller is going to do a great job, and the defensive staff will do a great job of fixing that. So, I don't have a problem; he did a great job of going into detail last night. You know, it wasn't anything special. It was just the fact that we got to do what we had been coached to do; our guys got to be in the right place. You got to do what the defense calls for. I mean, he called a great game defensively; now it's just about executing." Graves said.

Graves also gave an injury update on wide receiver Chandler Whitfield, saying he will most likely miss Saturday's game but is expecting him to return the following week against Bethune-Cookman.
