Weather Forecast: Near record warmth on the way
Oct 29, 2024
ROCHESTER, NY (WROC) - Our Tuesday wet weather marked the passage of a warm front, something that will dramatically change our weather over the next 48 hours. Winds have turned southerly, meaning our temperatures likely won't drop after dark as that flow advects warmer air into the region.
I'm generally not in the business of offering travel advice, but I'll make an exception. Today is Apogee Day, the day when the Moon is at its farther distance from Earth. Like anything in life, the farther an object is from you, the smaller (and dimmer) it appears.… pic.twitter.com/kpl4BCl6MT— Eric Snitil (@EricSnitilWx) October 29, 2024
Partial sunshine Wednesday will allow temperatures to surge into the 70s through the afternoon, flirting with records across the region. It's not just Wednesday, we fully expect a record-challenging Halloween as a few spots nudge closer to the 80° mark.
A cold front will slowly inch toward WNY late Thursday after dark, driving a broken line of showers into the picture. Guidance is coming into better agreement that most of this wet weather will hold off until after trick-or-treating time Thursday evening. Behind that front, cooler air will return Friday and into the weekend as highs fall back into the 50s with frosty overnight coming back.
