Man struck in head by falling street sign in Trenton

A city man suffered injury Monday after a newly installed street identification sign dislodged and gashed his head.
Blood marked the spot on a sidewalk near the corner of Gladstone and Cleveland avenues where East Ward resident Milton Najera allegedly had his head slashed during a freak accident.
Najera showed a head wound that required staples after an emergency medical service vehicle transported him to Capital Health Regional Medical Center.
Najera, a Spanish speaker, told an interpreter he had been standing near the pole around noon when the sign toppled.
“It knocked me down to my knees,” Najera said. Blood poured down his face and covered a portion of sidewalk.
Trenton police passed by just after the incident occurred. Najera said officers called for medical support and collected the signage.
The signage had not been replaced as of Tuesday afternoon.
