KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Crews with Evergy are working to restore power across the Kansas City area on Tuesday. High winds with speeds of 40 mph and gusts as high as 60 mph have caused multiple outages. As of 3:30 p.m. in Missouri, Evergy is reporting 757 outages in Jackson County, 235 in Clay County and 162 in Cass County. On the Kansas side, Evergy is reporting 802 outages in Leavenworth County, 298 in Johnson County, 285 in Douglas County and less than 100 outages in Wyandotte County. Evergy says crews have been restoring outages quickly and continue to see the number of outages remain steady as high winds cause new outages. Evergy recommends having an emergency kit ready for your home, workplace and vehicle in case of outages. The emergency kits should be stocked with: Water Non-perishable food Prescription medications Fresh batteries Battery-powered radio Flashlight First aid kit Cell phone charger or power bank Customers can report outages here and can also track outages via Evergy’s outage map.
