Provided below are news briefs from the October 22, 2024, Leon County School Board meeting related to items considered by Board members. Item 19.01 The Board approved the Superintendent’s recommendation to advertise amendments to Policy 5517 – Anti-Harassment, for a public hearing and adoption on December 10, 2024. Revisions to this policy include definitions and the clarification of the use of Complainant and Respondent.  Additionally, sections regarding Sexual Cyberharassment, Anti-Semitism, Pregnancy Harassment, and Retention of Investigatory Records and Materials have been included.  The District Compliance Officer list has been updated and procedural time frames and reporting dates revised.  Item 19.02 The Board approved the Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare, Inc. Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Agreement for the term of twelve (12) months from October 1, 2024 through September 30, 2025, in the amount of $37,000.00. Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare, Inc. provides assistance to the employer and the employees regarding productivity concerns, personal concerns including but not limited to health, marriage, family, financial issues, alcohol and drug addiction, legal, emotional, stress or other personal issues that may affect job performance.  Item 19.03 The Board approved the Memorandum of Understanding between Leon County Schools (LCS) and The Leon Classroom Teachers Association (LCTA) for the 2024-2025 Gifted Endorsement. Leon County Schools has agreed to allocate $15,000 towards incentives for teachers to add the Gifted Endorsement to their professional certificate; MOU attached. Item 19.04 The Board approved the Memorandum of Understanding between Leon County Schools (LCS) and The Leon Classroom Teachers Association (LCTA) for the Florida Department of Education (FDOE) declaration of “Differentiated Accountability” DA schools. The FDOE has declared Apalachee Elementary, Sabal Palm Elementary and Fort Braden as “DA” schools. These agreements allow the LCTA to work in conjunction with District Administration to implement interventions and strategies needed to improve student performance.
