Statewide cooldown coming tonight

Strong wind gusts are continuing to pick up across the state today. Reaching dangerous and damaging levels in certain places.
The fall storm system has made its way to New Mexico. The low pressure system from the Pacific Northwest has settled over the Great Basin today. This system is responsible for the very strong wind gusts seen across New Mexico today. Wind gusts reaching 60 + mph are expected across the state. Multiple high wind warnings and wind advisories are in place until 7 p.m. on October 29th. These strong winds could cause damage to trees, powerlines, and loose outdoor objects like Halloween decorations and furniture.
The winds are also aiding in the growth of the Blue Front Fire. The fire was detected on October 28th. The fire has since grown from its initial 50 acres to 200 acres. at 11:29 p.m. on October 29th the residents of Bonito Late were placed under a Ready Status due to the fire. The fire will continue to be monitored as efforts to contain it are being taken.
A Pacific cold front will make its way through New Mexico tonight and through tomorrow. This front was sent by the fall pressure system. The cold front will bring a noticeable drop in temperatures tomorrow. Some places seeing as much as a 30 degree difference in temperatures from Sunday's Record Highs. This front will also be bringing the first freeze of the season for many Wednesday night.
The state's weather will calm down on Thursday. A few spotty showers are possible for eastern New Mexico on Friday.
