The California Highway Patrol is looking for a man who investigators say shot the driver of a pickup during a road-rage crime on the southbound 15 Freeway in the Cajon Pass on Monday, Oct. 28.
The shooting was reported just before 9:30 am south of Oak Hill Road.
The driver of a black 2000s-era Volvo XC70 believed to be in his mid-20s to mid-30s fired several shots at a Ford F-350, striking the pickup and its driver, said Officer Ivan Sandoval, a CHP spokesperson. The CHP did not say what prompted the shooting.
The Ford driver followed the Volvo and crashed into the back of the sedan, Sandoval said. The impact caused the Volvo to crash into a Toyota Tacoma, causing it to overturn. The Volvo driver fled that crash scene.
The Ford driver suffered a leg injury that was not considered life-threatening, Sandoval said. The Toyota driver had minor injuries.
The CHP said victims of road-rage crimes should call 911 immediately.
The CHP also asked anyone with information on the shooting to call 909-383-4247 or 800-835-5247.
