RI Attorney General won’t bring charges in ILO contract case
Oct 29, 2024
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — There will be no charges brought against Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee in the case of the School Reopening Contract being awarded to the ILO Group, according to the office of Rhode Island Attorney General Peter F. Neronha.
The Rhode Island State Police and AG’s office Public Integrity Unit investigated, starting in September of 2021, whether the awarding of the $5,170,828.81 contract violated the state bribery statute.
The RISP also considered potential violations of Rhode Island campaign finance laws.
The investigation revealed that the McKee administration ignored a state review team’s findings and failed to comply with state regulations regarding the contract procurement process.
The investigation was not able to find sufficient evidence to go through with a criminal prosecution.
Full details of the investigation can be found here.
