Weather Alert: Elevated Brush Fire Risk; Light Showers Tonight
Oct 29, 2024
WEATHER ALERT: An elevated fire risk continues (and likely through the week). Due to the dry conditions, any fires could spread quickly.
Good evening
Some very light showers expected later this evening (after 9pm) and overnight, however only amounting to around 0.10 to 0.15 inches. We are running -5.15" below normal the last 59 days.
An elevated fire risk continues due to very dry brush, dry air and occasional gusty winds. That fire risk may increase a bit Wednesday and Thursday due to warmer temps and gustier winds.
Meanwhile the other big weather story...a significant warmup on the way starting Wednesday afternoon and peaking by Halloween Thursday

TONIGHT
Very light showers will develop tonight, after 9PM. We're only expecting about a tenth of an inch of rain in spots. The showers should be gone well before dawn. Not as cold overnight with lows in the lower 50s.
WEDNESDAY FORECAST
Much warmer and breezy conditions by Wednesday afternoon with highs will be in the low 70s inland, 60s at the coast. Winds from the southwest 5-15mph with gusts to 20-25mph, at times. Those gusty winds could make any fires spread that much more quickly.
Wednesday Afternoon High Temperatures
LOOKING AHEAD
Halloween will feel more like a Summer day. Afternoon highs on Thursday in the mid to upper 70s with a warm dry gusty breeze
The weather will be quite mild for the trick-or-treaters...70s and 60s with dry conditions.
