PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Firefighters made quick work of a fire that broke out inside of a vacant Providence building Tuesday evening.
Deputy Assistant Fire Chief Robert Butler told 12 News firefighters were forced to battle the flames from outside the Ford Street building.
"We weren't allowed to enter the building due to holes in the floor and the building's overall condition," he explained.
Butler said two neighboring homes, which were evacuated as a precaution, sustained minor damage. No one was injured.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time.
