MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A murder suspect who was out on bond is now facing new charges. Markell Hare was recently arrested after Shelby County Sheriff's deputies said he strangled his seven-year-old daughter and physically assaulted two women. But Hare was also indicted for the 2016 murder of a beloved music teacher, who was killed during a home invasion. Markell Hare. (SCSO) Online records state that Hare is set to go to trial on that murder case next year. Early Sunday morning, deputies were called to Greenalder Cove North. There, they say they found a man, now identified as Markell Hare, in the garage. When they tried to restrain him, he would not allow deputies to put handcuffs on him. They also say they found two stolen handguns in his waistband. A woman at the residence told deputies that he'd assaulted her two daughters and her granddaughter. ORIGINAL STORY: Man indicted on murder charges accused of strangling daughter That child told deputies that she called 911 for help because Hare had grabbed her by her neck, lifted her off the ground and threw her onto the bed. Deputies saw bruises on the child's neck. Records show Hare had been out on a $200,000 bond. He's one of six people indicted for the home invasion and murder of beloved music teacher, Christopher Waters back in 2016. Christopher Waters. Waters was found shot and stabbed, with his home ransacked. He was just 30-years-old when he was killed. His mother spoke with WREG about the tragedy not long after his death. "He was just a good guy," Lisa Waters said. "He was my boy. He was my friend." And she had a strong message for those accused of attacking him. "I hope they have a lot of time to think about it," Waters said. "Sit in jail and think about what they've done." Two charged in murder of Memphis music teacher Investigators say that some of the suspects involved in Waters' death have been convicted. But Hare, who was indicted by a grand jury in 2017 continues to have his case reset. The reasons for the continual resets over the years are unclear but records show his trial is set for February 2025. WREG reached out to the District Attorney's Office about this case and is still waiting to hear back.
