PLEASANT HILL, Mo. -- One student was hospitalized and several others were hurt after a tree fell outside Pleasant Hill Elementary School on Tuesday. According to Pleasant Hill Police Chief Tommy Wright, at about 1:45 p.m., several students were hit by a falling tree during recess. This resulted in one student being taken to a hospital with suspected "serious injuries," and many others evaluated by emergency response teams and school nursing staff. Wind causes trouble for fighters in overnight house fire Police said the tree was "deteriorated" and not on the school's property. It was also reported that high winds were a factor in the tree falling. https://twitter.com/DaveDMarko/status/1851360506319159699 According to FOX4 Meteorologist Joe Lauria, wind speeds in Pleasant Hill were clocked at nearly 50 mph at about 2 p.m. -- 15 minutes after the incident. Parents have been notified and the case is currently under investigation. The condition of the student and their injuries has yet to be released by police. This is a developing story.
