Trinidad shooting suspect arrested, facing several charges

(TRINIDAD, Colo.) — The Trinidad Police Department said a suspect who was taken into custody over the weekend for a shooting that happened on Saturday, Oct. 26 is now facing several charges.
According to police, on Sunday, Oct. 27, the suspect, identified as Emmanuel Valdez, was contacted during a traffic stop and placed into custody that same day.
The arrest comes after police responded to reports of a shooting on Saturday at around 10 p.m. When officers arrived, they found a victim with a gunshot wound.
"Officers rendered aid and the man was treated by Trinidad Ambulance before being transported to Mt. San Rafael," police wrote.
Valdez was taken to the Las Animas County Detention Center and is facing several charges including; Criminal Attempt First-Degree Murder, First-Degree Assault, Menacing (Threat/Fear of SBI + Deadly Weapon or Threat of Deadly Weapon), two counts of Reckless Endangerment, and Arrest of a Parolee (Parole Hold).
