Where is the Ellipse?
The Ellipse, also known as President's Park, is 52 acres and just south of the White House. The park is accessible through sidewalks and runs along Constitution Avenue between 15th and 17th Streets.
The Ellipse Visitor Pavilion is located at 15th Street and E Street and is a large oval-shaped field.
Its development began in the 1850s but was cut by a lack of funds and then by the Civil War. During this time, the site was used as horse pens, a slaughterhouse and a trash dump. According to the National Park Service, soldiers were also housed there during the Civil War.
