(KRON) -- An East Bay police department is praising one of its officers after it said he saved a woman’s life in Berkeley while responding Sunday to an emergency medical call mistakenly located in nearby Kensington.
Kensington Police Department Officer Gill was dispatched to the area of Oakview and Colusa avenues on the report of a woman who was unconscious and not breathing. After checking the area, Gill determined that the woman was not at the location, Kensington PD said.

Albany Police Department dispatchers assisted in locating the woman in Berkeley, where Gill found her showing signs of a narcotic overdose, authorities said. Gill administered Narcan to revive the woman before the Berkeley Fire Department arrived.
“When the brain is deprived of oxygen, death can occur in as little as five minutes,” Kensington PD wrote in a social media post. “Gill’s efforts ensured the victim received critical medical attention in time.”
