VERNON, Conn. (WWLP) - A man from Enfield is facing charges after allegedly driving over 100 MPH on I-84.
One person injured, one arrested after two vehicle crash in Enfield
According to the Connecticut State Police, multiple phone calls were received about a Mercedes SUV being driven recklessly on I-84 westbound around exit 64 in Vernon. A trooper patrolling the area spotted the white Mercedes GLC30 with a Massachusetts registration. The trooper clocked the vehicle's speed at 106 MPH, which is 41 miles over the posted speed limit of 65.
The Mercedes was also not staying in their lane, so the trooper initiated a traffic stop. The driver, who was identified as 50-year-old Christopher R. Carter of Enfield, complied with the trooper and pulled over. The trooper asked Carter about his speed and claimed that a family member was dying in the hospital. This statement was confirmed to be false and was placed under arrest.

Carter was released on a $1,000 bond and is scheduled to be arranged at Rockville Superior Court on November 12th.
