ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WLNE) — The mayor of Attleboro is urging city residents to observe water conservation restrictions in the face of low rainfall and reservoir levels.
In a statement, Mayor Cathleen Desimone said that Attleboro, on a ten year average Attleboro has received almost a foot less of rainfall since June.
Mayor Desimone also stated that the city’s reservoir levels “are becoming a critical concern.”
Residents and businesses are urged to follow indoor and outdoor water use restrictions, as are city departments.
To conserve water, the Mayor’s office suggested:
Only running full dishwasher and laundry loads
Wiping dishes instead of rinsing before loading the dishwasher
Washing produce with a damp cloth instead of rinsing under the tap
Shutting off the water when brushing teeth and shaving
Not using the toilet to flush trash, and only flushing when needed
If there is a choice to use a low volume flush on the toilet, it should be used
Taking shorter showers or not filling the bath to as deep a level when bathing
Upgrading fixtures to low flow options when performing plumbing work
