NATCHITOCHES, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — A Natchitoches Parish woman is arrested for her alleged role in a cold case murder happening in 2012 in Pittsburg County, Oklahoma. According to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's office, on Monday, deputies and members of the United States Marshals Fugitive Apprehension Team arrived at a home along Sisson Road shortly after 8:30 a.m. They say Mary K. Ballard, 68, of Natchitoches, was arrested without incident. They say Ballard had lived in Natchitoches Parish for the past few years. Two charged in 2012 Latimer Co. homicide investigation According to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations, Ballard was wanted for her alleged role in the murder of 54-year-old Barbara Durant on September 28, 2012. Ballard is being held at the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center and is awaiting extradition. She is booked on charges of first-degree murder and being an out-of-state fugitive. "We have been assisting the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation with this case for the past couple of months. We hope this arrest will bring some form of closure to the victim's family," said Major J. Byles with the NPSO Criminal Investigations Division.
