On August 12 around 4:40 p.m., the victim stated that he was at the EZ Express gas station on 2380 Frayser Boulevard when he was confronted by four males in the parking lot who robbed him at gunpoint.
A security guard at the gas station saw the men and reportedly asked them to leave. One of the suspects then pointed a gun at the guard.
The suspects fired several shots at both the victims before leaving in a white sedan, which police determined to have been stolen. Police say the victim was able to get his other gun from his vehicle and fired shots at the suspects.
During the exchange of gunfire, officers say they witnessed the suspects leaving the gas station from across the street. As they followed the suspects, a traffic stop was attempted.

The suspects refused to stop and drove north on Mountain Terrace with the officer in pursuit. When the vehicle stopped in the 400 block of Mountain Terrace, two passengers got out and ran on foot. Police say at least one of the suspects had a gun.
The officer says he commanded the suspects to stop, but they refused. The officer then fired a shot at one of the suspects who jumped down into a concrete drainage ditch. Officers found a Glock handgun in the drainage ditch along with a broken magazine with multiple live .40 rounds scattered around it. There was also one live round in the chamber.
During the investigation, Cobe McCarter was developed as a possible suspect.
