MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A man is now in custody after he reportedly fled from law enforcement in a stolen truck Monday night and crashed in Shelby County. According to reports, a Tennessee Highway Patrol state trooper received a Be-On-The-Lookout (BOLO) for a stolen 2012 Chevrolet Silverado in the area of Poplar Avenue and Poplar Woods Circle at around 11 p.m. The trooper spotted the truck in the area and tried to pull it over, but the driver refused, initiating a pursuit. Reports say the driver of the stolen truck fled the area going 100 mph in a 40 mph zone. TN correctional officer accused of trying to smuggle drugs into jail The suspect allegedly brake-checked the trooper several times, almost causing an accident. While driving north on Houston Levee Road near Wolf River Boulevard, the suspect began to spin his tires and crossed over the median two separate times. The suspect then crashed into two garbage cans and two trees in the area of Canada Road. He was taken into custody and identified as Juan Jose Jacobo Castro. The THP says Castro did not have a valid driver's license or insurance. Castro is charged with Evading Arrest in Motor Vehicle, Reckless Endangerment to wit Motor Vehicle, Theft of Property $10,000-$60,000, Reckless Driving, Speeding, Driving Without License, Proof of Insurance, Improper Passing, and Drivers to Exercise Due Care. His bond has not been set, but he is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday morning.
