LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Good morning Kentucky! It was a much warmer start to your Tuesday morning thanks to a mild southerly breeze during the overnight hours. This breeze will continue our warming trend into the afternoon hours today. Temperatures will be peaking right around the upper 70s, near 80 in spots. You can expect a few clouds around but the day should end mostly sunny. Skies will remain generally clear overnight and temperatures will be a few degrees cooler by Wednesday morning, in the mid-50s in most locations. Warm & Windy Wednesday Wednesday will be another breezy and warm day across the region. Afternoon highs will peak around 80 in most spots, with a warm southerly breezy throughout the day. This is out ahead of a cold front that will be moving in during the day on Thursday (Halloween). The surge of warmth ahead of the cold front will lead to a warm start on Halloween morning. Temperatures will start off in the low-to-mid 60s across the region. Halloween Forecast After the warm start to the day, you can expect warm and windy conditions to last through the afternoon. Wind gusts upwards of 30 mph+ will be possible during the midday. Rain chances will be increasing from west to east during the late afternoon and into the evening hours. This could mean a line of scattered showers and a storm or two possible for central Kentucky area right around when trick-or-treating will be taking place. Make sure you have some rain gear accompanying the costumes. If you’re in the southeastern Kentucky mountains, this rain chance may hold off until after trick-or-treating. We will be fine tuning the timing of the rain on Wednesday, so stay tuned for more updates. Cooler Friday Friday will be a cooler day across the region, with most locations staying in the low 60s for afternoon highs. There will also be some lingering rain for southeastern Kentucky as well. Don’t expect anything too heavy, just a bit of a dreary start to the day in spots. Cloud cover will linger around through the midday as well, finally clearing up a bit by the early evening hours. Weekend Forecast The weekend looks to stay mainly dry. Outside of a late day rain chance on Sunday, all of Saturday and at-least the first half of Sunday will be dry. Temperatures will also be seasonably mild as well. The only exception is Saturday morning where temperatures will be in the upper 30s and low 40s. Afternoon highs on Saturday will be reaching the mid-to-upper 60s before climbing into the 70s by Sunday. Look Ahead at Next Week We will likely see a bit of a more active weather pattern for the first week of November. You can expect a couple rain chances next week with above average temperatures likely in the 70s for most, especially early in the week. Election Day could feature a few showers as well, though we don’t expect widespread rain to move through until a cold front swings through mid-to-late next week.
