Educational Arts Team Celebrates 50 Years of Impact in Jersey City

Known for its dedication to increasing access to the arts in the Jersey City community, The Educational Arts Team marked its 50th Anniversary this month.Founded in 1974 by Carmine Tabone and a group of passionate artists, the organization has been dedicated to providing children from diverse backgrounds with access to artistic expression.The milestone was highlighted at a gala celebration on October 18, 2024, attended by over 200 guests, including former teachers, staff, campers, and supporters. While the event served as a moment to honor the past, it also focused on the significant impact the Educational Arts Team has had on Jersey City.“We are thrilled to celebrate this milestone with the community that has supported us for half a century,” said Roxy Arrojo, executive director of the Educational Arts Team. “We honor our past, celebrate the present, and look forward to the future of arts education in our community.”Throughout its history, the organization has developed various programs centered on literacy, social-emotional learning, sustainability, and arts engagement. These initiatives reach children and families in schools, community centers, and libraries across Jersey City and northern New Jersey, ensuring that the arts remain accessible.Community leaders have recognized the Educational Arts Team’s vital role in shaping the lives of young people. Mayor Steven Fulop congratulated the organization, stating, “A big congratulations to the Educational Arts Team on 50 years of providing generations of Jersey City residents with creative outlets and educational opportunities through the arts.”State Senator Angela V.
