LA CROSSE, Wis. (WFRV) - After making its inaugural run back in May, officials with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation say the Amtrak Borealis is celebrating its 100,000th rider. Kewaunee County Junior Firefighter Program receives $24,000 grant According to a social media post from WisDOT, Borealis celebrated its 100,000th rider milestone while transporting people to and from an event in La Crosse. Officials say the Borealis reaching this milestone demonstrates the excitement of the people of Wisconsin for the first passenger rail service expansion in 22 years. This milestone is a testament to WisDOT’s commitment to provide additional access for people traveling between Minnesota, Wisconsin and Illinois while contributing to economic growth. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation Officials add that the Borealis would not have been possible without the strong partnerships between Amtrak and the three states that Borealis travels between.
