Two people hurt while watching drag racing in Baton Rouge, police say

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Two people were hit by a vehicle while watching drag racing, according to the Baton Rouge Police Department.
Officers were called around 1:50 a.m. to the 1900 block of North Flannery Road and initiated an investigation that is still ongoing.
The two people were taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
Louisiana bans street drag racing. The law states that "no person shall drive any vehicle in any race, speed competition or contest, drag race or acceleration contest, test of physical endurance, exhibition of speed or acceleration, or for the purpose of making a speed record upon the public roads in this state or upon any publicly-owned or privately-owned property to which the public's access is not prohibited, and no person shall in any manner participate in any such race, speed competition, drag race, test of physical endurance, exhibition, or attempt to make a speed record."
