BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The 51st Annual Bayou Classic has returned yet again. The historic matchup between two Louisiana HBCUs, Southern University and Grambling State University. The Bayou Classic is a rivalry between the two universities dating back to 1974, according to the official website. Many events are held in relation to the Bayou Classic, with the biggest two being the Greek Step Show & Battle of the Bands and the Bayou Classic football game. Each year, the Bayou Classic is held in New Orleans at the Casear's Superdome the weekend following Thanksgiving. This year, events start on Monday, Nov. 25. Beyond the football game, battle of the bands and Greek step show, the Bayou Classic features a welcome press conference, invite-only coaches luncheon and a business showcase. Most of the events are open to the public and may require registration or tickets.
