Puppies fall into Firebaugh canal after being abandoned

FIREBAUGH, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - Firebaugh Police are searching for the person or people responsible for abandoning two puppies in a canal in Firebaugh.
Police announced on Monday two puppies were discovered by a property owner who found them near a canal off Copper Avenue.
Officers say when the puppies were initially found, they had slipped into the canal. A resident who was driving by had got into the canal to rescue them.
Since then, the puppies have been surrendered to the police department.
Investigators say they were informed a person had left them with food and water. Police are actively searching for those responsible for this abandonment.
