MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A man accused of breaking into at least two vehicles in an East Memphis neighborhood Sunday night was caught red-handed, police say.

According to the complaint affidavit, Starrett lives only a mile from the neighborhood where he was arrested.
Court records show Starrett has a lengthy criminal record. In 2022, he was arrested several times for burglary of a vehicle. In 2023, he pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of attempted vehicle burglary and received an 11-month, 29-day suspended sentence.
Starrett is now facing charges of burglary of a motor vehicle, resisting official detention, and possession of drugs.
