AUGUSTA COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- On Sunday afternoon, a hiker at Humpback Rock in Augusta County was rescued by Chesterfield County Fire and EMS' MedFlight team. According to Chesterfield Fire and EMS, on Sunday, Oct. 27, a hiker at Humpback Rock injured their knee and couldn't make it back down the mountain. Chesterfield fire crews that are a part of the MedFlight program were called in by first responders in the area to rescue the hiker. The MedFlight crew, which consists of a partnership with Chesterfield firefighters and pilots from Virginia State Police, located the hiker and lifted them off the mountain to a nearby parking lot. The hiker was taken to a local hospital by an ambulance to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. For the last three months, MedFlight has been called to assist with several rescues that were similar like the one Devil's Marble Yard in Rockbridge County and another in St. Mary's Falls Trail. In addition, MedFlight has also helped rescue a hiker who fell near the Appomattox River in Chesterfield.
