WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- Runners across the DMV are getting ready for the 37th Annual 17th Street High Heel Race. The event brings out thousands of people to Washington D.C.'s Dupont Circle, celebrating the LGBTQ+ community while also supporting local businesses. Drag queen Regina Jozet Adams joined DC News Now Monday ahead of the fun-filled night. Adams bedazzles shoes with stones. 37th annual High Heel Race coming to Northwest DC, preps underway She used her skills to modify a pair of heels for DC News Now's Morning Anchor Cory James, who is participating in the race. DC News Now high heel design by Regina Jozet Adams She said she spent more than 30 hours redesigning the platform heels that she wore two years ago during the 35th Annual High Heel Race. New mural in Dupont Circle honors history of annual High Heel Race Adams – who says she is also known as the “Queen of Comedy,” told DC News Now that she started stoning shoes to get away with wearing fancy clothing and garments during performances. “I actually had a pageant that I wanted to stone a pair for so that if my toe peaked out from the gown it was a nice pretty little thing,” she said. The High Heel Race will start at 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 29 on 17th Street in Northwest D.C. For more information about the race, click here.
