SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Arson fires were set on multiple floors at the former Vibra Hospital in Springfield Monday morning. Springfield Fire Captain Drew Piemonte told 22News they received 911 calls at around 8:10 Monday morning about smoke coming from the building, located at 1400 State Street. Firefighters found multiple trash fires on multiple floors of the former hospital. Tips to prepare heaters for cooler temperatures Piemonte said a group of 10 juveniles were seen leaving the building and had been interviewed by police. Springfield Police Spokesman Ryan Walsh told 22News that as of this time, no arrests have been made. Piemonte said that the building has been boarded up, but people have been forcing their way inside the structure. No injuries were reported in Monday's fires. Vibra Hospital was a long-term acute care hospital which closed in 2018. The building was originally constructed as the former Springfield Municipal Hospital.
