ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – With Halloween right around the corner, Burqueños are looking for the best spots to take their families trick-or-treating. Many factors determine where people end up going, ranging from neighborhood safety to the type and size of candy people are handing out. KRQE asked viewers via social media where they preferred to go trick-or-treating around Albuquerque. The most commonly answered neighborhood in which KRQE viewers like to visit for trick-or-treating was Cabezon Park in Rio Rancho. Located at 2307 Cabezon Blvd. SE, the Cabezon Park area features an outdoor swimming pool, community center, football field, playgrounds, gazebos, and a lot of candy for the holiday, according to poll participants 4 mom-approved cheap Halloween costume ideas Many viewers also said they prefer to stay in their own neighborhoods rather than travel to another. "I live in the Adobe Acres neighborhood in the [South Valley], and every year it’s great! Lots of candy, lots of families, & lots of fun houses to see," one person commented. Many people also view Halloween as an opportunity to connect with their own communities. "Trick-or-treat in your neighborhood! Get to know your neighbors!" another person recommended. Trick-or-treaters often base their preferences not only on candy handouts but also on neighborhood decorations. "There's a little neighborhood we went to last year; it's off Osuna near Wyoming... My heart felt so full to see the whole neighborhood decorated and lit up, families up and down the block all dressed up in costumes, everyone smiling and being positive and kind to one another... We're going to this spot again this year," a viewer wrote. Many families also said they preferred trunk-or-treat events as opposed to traditional trick-or-treating, citing safety as one of their main concerns. These events also tend to run before Halloween starts, giving people plenty of time to get their fair share of candy. One viewer said they would attend "trunk-or-treat at Harvest ABQ!" this year. It was fun to see the other costumes. Kid-friendly and nice and warm." Regardless if families decide to trick-or-treat this year, Halloween falls this Thursday.
