WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — T.F. Green International Airport launched its first flight direct to Puerto Rico today.
Officials like Lt. Governor Sabina Matos and Central Falls Mayor Maria Rivera got on the new direct flight to “help tourism and the economy in Rhode Island and Puerto Rico.”
“While there are lots of conversations about the disrespectful comment made yesterday about PR, 25 of us are on our way to promote Jet Blue’s new direct flight from PVD to SJU and talk about how this new direct flight can help tourism and the economy in RI and PR,” said Rivera in a X post.

Just yesterday, Trump rally speaker Tony Hinchcliffe called Puerto Rico a “floating island of garbage.”
The group, organized by Rivera, will meet with government and tourism officials from Puerto Rico.
